Walmart Is Extending Its Store Hours at Locations Nationwide

Shop until 10 p.m. at over 4,000 locations.

There's been a lot of changes made to shopping at grocery stores recently. Costco is changing up its food court menu. Kroger announced that over 50,000 new items will be available at their digital marketplace called Kroger Ship. And Walmart is now testing same-day deliveries in some cities in California and Oklahoma through Instacart.

But that's not all they are changing — Walmart hours are being updated, as well. The chain announced that over 4,000 of the 4,700 total locations will close at 10 p.m. instead of 8:30 p.m. from now on. To find out if your local store is one open an extra hour and a half, check the store's website.

Along with closing later, Walmart stores will continue to hold senior shopping hours on Tuesdays an hour before the regular opening time. Pharmacies and vision centers will open early then, too, the store says. They made the change in mid-March when the coronavirus pandemic began to spread around the country. Although they originally planned to return to normal operating hours by April 28, things changed. The Senior Hour stayed and safety rules were set that are still in place now.

"Additionally, we're using a single, clearly designated entrance and another clearly designated exit at each store to help maintain social distancing and lessen the instances of people closely passing each other," the store said in the recent announcement. "We're also limiting the number of people in a store at once to allow no more than five customers for each 1,000 square feet at a given time, roughly 20 percent of a store's capacity."

In other news, starting at 6 p.m. at 160 Walmart locations across the country, the parking lot will be transformed into a drive-in movie theater! Movies like The Karate Kid, The Lego Movie, Black Panther, and more will be shown. And the tickets are free!
