Walmart Was Just Rated the Top Grocery Store for This Service

Shop here if you're looking for the best when it comes to this perk!

There are many reasons why we love Walmart, including the wide variety of items available. For example, one can pick up a beer fridge, lemon Oreos, and an engagement ring all at the same time. Perhaps you may love how easy it is to shop for groceries online at Walmart, and you wouldn't alone. A new study ranks Walmart as the top grocery retailer in the U.S. to buy online and pickup in store.

To understand which chains have the best in-store pickup, curbside, and delivery offerings, the research firm Ipsos asked 2,000 U.S. customers "to determine which pickup and delivery attributes are table stakes, which are key differentiators, and which are unimportant." The two-prong study was then rounded out by 150 mystery shops at each brand to measure the execution of these key performance indicators. Mystery shoppers audited retailers' performances through all phases of the experience, from account creation to ordering, pickup, and delivery. Walmart topped other chains, including Target, Kroger, Aldi, to take the top spot in the buy-online-pickup-in-store grocery category. A major key to its success? Good signage. Sam's Club, a subsidiary of Walmart, finished first in curbside pickup in the grocery category. Dedicated parking was available at every audited Sam's Club location. Kroger placed second because of its ability to fulfill orders on time.

A separate category for grocery delivery ranked chains for accuracy, notifications, and more. H-E-B, Whole Foods Market, and Aldi finished in the top three spots. The study is a great resource for grocers to study how they can improve the experience of ordering online. It's also helpful for customers looking for easy and reliable service.
