This Is the Only Correct Way to Squeeze Lemons or Limes
Whether you're getting ready to make a delicious shrimp scampi or shaking up a margarita, you probably come across the same problems with your lemons and limes. You cut them in half and get ready to squeeze out the juice, then find yourself dealing with a lemon or lime so hard, it almost seems like you're squeezing a rock. Sound familiar? That's probably because there's only one correct way to squeezing lemons and limes, and you're currently not doing it.
Here is an easy step-by-step tutorial for you to follow!
The correct way to squeeze lemons and limes
Here's the trick: Before even cutting your lemons or limes, roll them out on the counter. Place them down on the counter, and using the bottom of your palm, firmly roll them out on a clean surface. This will actually loosen up the inside of the lemon and lime and create a squishier fruit to squeeze.
Secondly, you'll want to make sure you have some kind of citrus juicer on you. This will help you to really get out all of the juice in each half of your lemon and lime so none of it goes to waste. It also will help in catching all of the seeds so you don't have to fish them out later.
How you store them is important
While lemons and limes do last longer in the fridge, they actually don't need to always sit in the crisper. If you plan on using your lemons or limes relatively soon after buying them, you can leave them on the counter in a bowl. By having a warmer, room temperature fruit, you'll have an easier time during your rolling and juicing process.
If you don't plan on using your lemons or limes soon, you should absolutely store them in the crisper. Then when it's time to use them, take them out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature. This will make your rolling and squeezing process so much easier.
