Target is Adding Hundreds of New Grocery Items to Their Stores

The 600 new items include wood-fired frozen pizzas and organic coffee.

If you're a fan of grocery shopping at Target, the retailer has some good news for you. Their flagship food and beverage brand Good & Gather is growing with the addition of 600 new items. The retail giant is expanding its grocery offer with artisanal items like organic coffee and signature pastas and sauces imported from Italy, as well as family-friendly frozen wood-fired crust pizzas and meatless burgers. The new items are starting to hit the shelves now and will continue to be added through early October.

"Food and beverage continue to play a very important role in the Target experience," Stephanie Lundquist, Target's EVP and president of food and beverage told USA Today. "Families right now, more than ever, are looking for a little inspiration and the ability to create some delicious dishes at home."

Target kicked off Good & Gather, its biggest flagship brand, last year, with grocery staples like bagged salads, cheese, granola, sparkling water, deli fresh entrees and sides, fruit squeezers, frozen fruit, fresh vegetables, chips, and nutrition bars. The introduction of the new, streamlined in-house brand, which places an emphasis on high-quality ingredients, seems to be an effort to cater to shoppers looking for well-made food at a bargain.

The brand now includes a total of nearly 2,000 items. Lundquist noted some of the most popular items so far have been the avocado toast salad and strawberry mango sparkling water, while she expects the new pizzas to become customer's favorites, too. "A couple of the really fun favorites are the spinach and goat cheese or the wood-fired pepperoni and spicy honey drizzle," she said.

All the products in the line are made without artificial flavors and sweeteners, synthetic colors, and high-fructose corn syrup. Target has hired more food scientists to work on the flagship brand and is updating some of their older products to meet the Good & Gather standards. The products come with a money-back guarantee, also called the Good & Gather promise: "Love every bite or your money back."
