The World's Largest McDonald's Is In This City
McDonald's has a plethora of impressive and unique locations worldwide, such as the "most beautiful" location which you can visit in New York state. But its biggest location in the world is a breathtaking structure that functions both as a restaurant and an entertainment center—and it's also located in the United States.
An average McDonald's restaurant is about 4,000 square feet in size, according to data sourced from The Motley Fool. That makes the so-called "Epic McD" McDonald's location in Orlando, Fla., which measures a whopping 19,000 square feet, the largest Mickey D's by square footage.
But the world's largest McDonald's restaurant at 6875 Sand Lake Road is outsized in more ways than one. It also boasts a bigger menu, according to Reader's Digest. Diners are welcome to stick to the standard McDonald's offerings, but can also sample specialty items like panini sandwiches, Belgian waffles, custom-made personal-sized pizzas, pasta dishes, and more. The restaurant also includes a dessert bar. Meals are delivered to patrons seated at tables and are served on actual ceramic plates and with real silverware.
The three-story "Epic McD" was established in 1976 and underwent extensive renovations in 2016. Today, visitors can enjoy a huge entertainment center featuring a 20-foot-tall indoor play structure and try their hands at more than 100 arcade games. And the fun starts at the entrance—with a 30-foot-tall depiction of Ronald McDonald greeting customers.
The best part? The restaurant is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you really can't pick the wrong time to visit.
In stark contrast, the world's smallest McDonald's restaurant is apparently just under 500 square feet in size and is located in Tokyo. Not to mention, an even tinier Mickey D's was set up in Sweden in 2019, but it caters to a whole different species—the bees.
