McDonald's Is Partnering With the White House on These New Coffee Cups

The collaboration will promote COVID-19 vaccines.

McDonald's will be launching a new coffee cup design to help promote the COVID-19 vaccine. The chain will partner with the Biden Administration to make information about the life-saving shot more accessible to its millions of daily customers around the country.

The campaign will be promoted on several highly visible pieces of McDonald's advertising real estate. It will begin later this month with vaccine information being displayed on the fast-food giant's billboard in New York's Times Square. The displayed factoids will come from trusted third parties, the company said.

Then starting in July, the chain will put in circulation some 50 million McCafé Cups featuring a new blue design with "We Can Do This," a slogan created by the Department of Health and Human Services to promote vaccine confidence. The cup will direct people to the government's vaccine website where they can get more information about protecting themselves and their loved ones from COVID-19 as well as nearby sites where they can make vaccine appointments. The information will also be circulated on McDonald's delivery seal stickers.

"McDonald's is excited to be doing our part for the people we serve, providing them with simple information that can help keep them safe," said Genna Gent, McDonald's USA Vice President for Global Public Policy and Government Relations. "This is a team effort—it takes all of us. We're proud to enter this partnership to provide trusted, independently verified information about COVID-19 vaccines to our customers in the nearly 14,000 communities we serve."
