All Mariah Carey Wants for Christmas Is to Cook for Three Days Straight

Plus: She wants to write a holiday cookbook someday.

There really is just one thing Mariah Carey needs for Christmas, and it's not "you." It's a snowy retreat with family, Santa, and—most importantly—a large kitchen where she can let her culinary creativity shine.

Carey's classic hit, "All I Want for Christmas is You," has topped the Billboard charts more than any other Christmas song in history. Not unlike her holiday hit, her cooking skills tend to really come into prominence during the twilight of the year. In a new interview with GQ, the Christmas queen confessed that she cooks nonstop throughout the holiday. "I like to cook every year. I cook on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th—all different menus," she said.

"I don't usually cook during the year until Christmas time, but I've been cooking a little bit more recently because my kids kind of like it when I cook," said the 49-year-old, who has 8-year-old twins with ex-husband Nick Cannon.

As for what the songstress whips up during her three-day extravaganza, well, it sure sounds like a mix. On Christmas Eve, she replicates a secret recipe that her father left her before he passed away. Then, on December 25, she goes more traditional by taking on the turkey.

"It took me a while to learn how to do the turkey," she revealed. "You have to know what you're doing to make a turkey. You can't poison people."

Carey gushed that she also loves baking with her daughter; German Chocolate Cake is an old favorite. Beyond that, though, the pop star did not disclose much about her "very specific" menu. "I won't go into [it] right now," she said, "because one day, I'm gonna put out a Christmas cookbook." Honestly, that's all we want for Christmas.

Like the true Christmas goddess that she is, though, Carey did share one ingredient: "Love, darling … You gotta cook with love. If you don't cook with love, it's not going to taste good."
