Burger King Is Dropping This Fan-Favorite Dessert for Good
There really is no combination quite like a burger and a pie, is there? OK, so they might seem like two dishes that wouldn't necessarily go together, but at Burger King, it's the perfect pair. Sadly though, the days of heading to BK and having a slice of pie along with your Whopper are long gone. That's right, the fast-food chain has announced that a fan-favorite dessert, the apple pie, is no longer available.
We'll give you a moment to process this news.
So, what exactly happened? Well, there were rumblings on Twitter and Reddit that BK had stopped selling the beloved Dutch Apple Pie. While it was unclear at first if this was only at certain locations, a spokesperson confirmed the menu change is here to stay at all U.S. locations.
"Burger King restaurants will no longer be offering the apple pie as part of our dessert menu since our supplier is no longer producing the product," a company spokesperson said in a statement. The apple pie was always thought of as a truly delicious fast food dessert option, as it was reminiscent of a traditional apple pie slice you would get from a diner or during Thanksgiving dinner! It was served warm and featured a flaky pastry crust, each bite filled with gooey apple filling. The upside is that there may still be lingering pies at your local Burger King. They are being sold until supplies last, but once they run out, that's it and you will no longer be able to get your apple pie fix.
BK's Dutch Apple Pie joins the list of other adored fast-food menu items that have recently become just a distant memory, including KFC's potato wedges and McDonald's short-lived P.L.T burger. There are still plenty of other dessert options still available for you at Burger King, though. While the Dutch Apple Pies are a thing of the past, there are still other pies you can order, such as the Hershey's Sundae Pie. While it might not bring on the same nostalgia you got from the apple pie, chocolate makes everything better, right?
