Your Favorite Popcorn Brand Now Comes in Microwaveable Bowls
So you love microwavable popcorn. The ease of bringing the movie theatre experience into your living room is hard to beat, and snacks are a huge part of that. And while delicious, it's also no secret that the salty and buttery treat has never been a friend of your waistline. But, don't fret, your favorite pre-popped popcorn brand, Angie's BOOMCHICKAPOP, just literally saved movie night.
For the first time ever, BOOMCHICKAPOP just rolled out microwavable popcorn. We knew a Netflix binge didn't have to come with a side of popcorn slathered in fake butter and astronomically high sodium, but this is now edible proof. The new product line comes in three tasty flavors: Lightly Sweet Kettle Corn, Real Butter Popcorn and Sea Salt Popcorn. They're packaged in fresh-pop bowls and will cost you only 35 calories per cup popped and 170 calories per serving.
Taking a deeper dive into the nutrition labels, their dose of sodium is definitely high, Real Butter holds 320 g, Lightly Sweet Kettle Corn has 280 g, and your best bet, Sea Salt has a bit less at 250 g per serving. Each also contains about 10 g total in fat (with the kettle corn holding 11g) and 5 g of saturated fat. The sugar on these are 0 grams (kettle corn has only 1 gram) which is pretty amazing on the other side of things.
Though we don't exactly love their fat content as something to eat every day, if you're on popcorn duty this a great option. That is compared to most other brands you've probably reached for in the past, such as Pop-Secret or Orville Redenbacher's. Some of the flavors from these recognizable brands, such as Orville Redenbacher's Melt On Caramel, are a clean-label-lover's absolute health nightmare. The bag is made with questionable additives like partially hydrogenated oils and mono- and diglycerides (both are highly-processed fats which may contain some trans fats), artificial flavors, corn syrup, and potentially-carcinogenic color additives like caramel coloring. Each of the BOOMCHICKAPOP's new microwavable popcorns are made with real ingredients such as whole grain popcorn and are both non-GMO and gluten-free.
We don't recommend you mindlessly munch on these new bags without watching its serving size and always keep an eye on your sodium intake that day. But, we're still excited to get our hands on this low-calorie, whole-grain snack, sin chemicals.
